    The Tejas fighter has not been put to test in a real war like aerial fight yet. You can't keep saying its best in the world while there are other potent fighters out there. The best Indian can do is keep Innovating and come up with upgrades version after version.

    He was born in a Telugu family, in Barampuram (in Odisha now). A product of BHU (now called an IIT), he served in Resident Technical Office, Nashik (later re-named SEMILAC, Directorate of Aeronaitics, R&D organisation in Defence ministry) for "certification" service of the aircraft produced there (HAL Nashik). In order to certify the airworthiness of an aircraft platform, one needs to be a good "designer" too. He got his Ph.D. from IIT, Bombay. Then he joined the newly created ADA (as No.3). He was having twin bosses, one of which was eminent Aeronautical Engineer, S.R. Valluri, Due to a turn of events, Shri Kota Harinarayana became the head of ADA, when serious work started. We can say that he is the 'maker of Tejas'. Bringing out the first prototype (of LCA) occupiede his whole time & was a passion with him. ADA was a totally Indian "outfit" to design a fighter aircraft for the first time, after the first design effort by Prof. Kurt Tank, at HAL, Bengaluru resulting in HF24, a fine air-frame (Aerodynamically best) design. But it was under-powered & couldn't bring out its full potential due to engines (those days none would sell a jet engine for fighter aircraft for love or money). Attempt to design a totally indigenous Light Combat (fighter jet) aircraft) was audacious at that time. Yet it was the courage that led the team to success. An aircraft designed, is only a "platform" for weapons systems primarily. Also need to be placed on it, are the engine, navigation equipment, communications equipment, instruments (display) for the pilot who is also a combatant (he needs controls, instruments, ejection system & air-conditioning), systems management on board (computers for that task). This aspect is unknown or if known, ignored by the public.

    Product with highest reliability is such a BS line. We need to be honest with ourselves man. Tejas mk1a haven't even entered the service yet.(Please don't mention the few we have in Sulur) Let the IAF fly it for hundred thousand hour than we can use such terms.

    • @MrPoornakumar
      @MrPoornakumar 2 місяці тому

      @ismt101 OK it is flying without any incident to date, fulfilling all that is required of it. Isn't it? Why don't you give credit for that? Why do you choose to belittle the work of thousands of experts (engineers) in their fields, to put in, one product like this. Whatever it is, in a combat situation LCA Tejas will come on top, in any engagement.

    The achievements here are all great but they are all let down due to unavailability of a high performance engine the entire Tejas program can be sabotaged by USA at will

    • @MrPoornakumar
      @MrPoornakumar 2 місяці тому

      @sasmac1829 I share the apprehension (fear) with you. But now "Kaveri" is making strides, so as to be fitted on Tejas. Even an under-powered (one of 90 kN) will do a great job on Tejas. And that will be followed up by continuous work & concurrent engineering.
